According to Telekom Malaysia [TM], Malaysia's first Islamic on-demand channel called AlHijrah On Demand is now available to subscribers of the Malaysian telco's IPTV service - HyppTV.
The launch in Kuala Lumpur with Tan Sri Dr Mohd Yusof Noor, chairman of AlHijrah Media Corporation, TM's chairman Dato' Sri Dr Halim Shafie said, "[The provision of the AlHijrah On Demand channel on our HyppTV platform] makes us the first IPTV service provider to offer on-demand Islamic content in the country."
"It is even more meaningful as we launched this new channel to our HyppTV customers in the blessed month of Ramadan," said Dr Halim. "Viewers can now fill their time with spiritual contents by watching various special Islamic and Ramadan programmes on AlHijrah On Demand at their convenience, including while on-the-go with the HyppTV Everywhere app that can be downloaded from Apple Store and Google Play."
"This latest offerings available to you through HyppTV's collaboration with AlHijrah Media Corporation reflects our continuous effort in providing diversified yet unique local contents to our viewers," he said.
AlHijrah Media's Dr Mohd, said, "With the availability of this platform, TV AlHijrah content can be viewed anytime, anywhere and even repeat it at your convenience. TV AlHijrah will maximise this opportunity to feature a variety of flagship programmes to fulfill the viewers' demand for Islamic content. We at TV AlHijrah are also grateful to become the first provider to broadcast Islamic content in HD on a Video on Demand platform."
AlHijrah On Demand is the second channel available from AlHijrah Media Corporation on HyppTV platform, after its free-to-air offering TV AlHijrah in HD on HyppTV Channel 114.
