Hellma Analytics is now a partner of A*STAR' Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES) in the effort to co-develop next generation manufacturing technologies for pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals.
A press statement by A*STAR said this is the result of Hellma Analytics having joined the ICES consortium on Innovative Processing for Specialties and Pharmaceuticals (iPSP).
Hellma Analytics is based in Mullheim, Germany and is a developer of optical analytics technologies made out of glass and quartz.
The press statement said the consortium's thrust is to strengthen R & D for manufacturing processes and practices with a view to relative cost, quality, process and environmental improvements.
The consortium also seeks to collectively speed up developments in pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals in the region.
Launched June 2013, the iPSP consortium brings together several biopharmaceuticals and chemical manufacturers in the co-development effort with process analytical technology (PAT) as one of the key R&D themes.
The press statement said Hellma's pioneering knowledge in PAT complements ICES' expertise in chemistry, chemical engineering, analytics, control, formulation science and catalysis.
Pharmaceuticals manufacturing is a major contributor to Singapore's biomedical sector, a sector which accounted for S$ 806.65 million worth of investments in 2013.
