As part of its commitment to South Asia, software-defined storage [SDS] specialist ProphetStor Data Services [ProphetStor] has announced the appointment of Malaysian IT veteran Simon Ng as the new regional director for the region as well as opening of two new offices in Malaysia and Singapore.

These moves are part of expanding our international and technical presence, said ProphetStor's chief executive officer Eric Chen.

"Our newest offices broaden our geographic scope in the Asia Pacific region and puts us in close proximity to a significant number of key strategic providers of storage, backup, infrastructure and data center solutions," said Chen.

"Both Malaysia and Singapore have been pioneering Asian countries in IT adoption, and with Simon at the helm, we see great potential for developing alliances with these business partners and service firms to provide customers with more reliability and efficiency through ProphetStor Federator," he said.

Chen said the new facilities will provision pre-sales and post-sales support, customer service and technical assistance to ProphetStor's growing base of customers in the South Asia region.

He said that companies that share the need for reduced storage complexity can now enjoy the numerous benefits of ProphetStor Federator. "This is an integrated software-defined storage management platform that simplifies and automates storage discovery, abstraction, and delivery, freeing storage users from complex, and often confusion storage management software associated with various storage systems."

 Expanding partnerships

Chen added that the company is in the process of recruiting channel partners, value added distributors and integrators to provide consultancy, design, deployment and post-implementation support for Enterprise customers.

The company will also conduct workshops, seminars and boot camps to provide awareness and education for both partners and customers in its South Asia offices, he said.

"With offices now in Malaysia and Singapore, the company is targeting the banking and insurance, government, healthcare, manufacturing and logistics and telecom industries," said Chen.

He confirmed that Simon Ng will be responsible for sales and marketing, technical services, channel partners and strategic alliances. He has more than 18 years of experience in setting up and leading both regional and local offices for multi-national corporations and distributors, including ACA Pacific Technology, Computer Associates (now known as CA Technologies) and FalconStor Software.

Founded in 2012 and headquartered in California, ProphetStor Data Services offers software-defined storage (SDS) solutions, which include federated storage solutions to enable data centres to scale out and cut storage costs for both commercial and open source solutions.
