Thrust is to win customers in Australia, India, Southeast Asia and Japan for its cloud hosting services.

Digital Ocean, based in New York, has now eyed the Asia Pacific for its cloud hosting services and has chosen one of Equinix's International Business Exchange data centres in Singapore to support its expansion into the region.

A press statement by the Redwood City, California-based Equinix claimed DigitalOcean's data centre deployment will better enable it to use Singapore as a base to acquire customers in Australia, India, Southeast Asia and Japan.

The expanded list of customers in the Asia-Pacific will be in addition to the three-year-old startup's current base of 200,000 customers.

DigitalOcean is also deployed in Equinix data centres in Amsterdam, Silicon Valley and New York.
